Galaxy Celebrates Black History

Galaxy Inc. Youth Center, located in the heart of downtown Grinnell, Iowa, is a nonprofit community youth resource in its eighth year of operation. Galaxy provides all students in grades 5 through 12 with a safe, innovative space, where they have the opportunity to engage in a variety of educational and recreational activities, build positive relationships, and take on community initiatives.

Whether kids participate in after-school programming, attend weekend events, or serve on the Youth Council, all gain positive support from the adult-guided environment and from each other in a space designed to meet their needs.

Most importantly, the Galaxy continues to be a place where parents and guardians feel confident sending their children. The Galaxy represents a safe and positive substance-free alternative; it represents choice.

The Galaxy was built not on fear, but rather, in response to a growing need within the community. Our youth have spent too much time without an alternative; without activities structured directly to their interests, passions, and needs.
